Trinidad senior portraits are an upgrade from typical school-photographer fare, coastal cliffs, sea stacks, working pier, and 270-degree Pacific views from the Head. Coastal fog timing matters (we plan around the morning marine layer). Galleries delivered in 2-3 weeks, yearbook-ready files prioritized when needed.

The Trinidad session

Most Trinidad senior portrait sessions are seniors traveling in from elsewhere. McKinleyville, Arcata, Eureka, even Crescent City, to use Trinidad's coastline as the destination location. Standard 60-minute sessions cover 2-3 spots along the Head, the Bay, and State Beach. Half-day epic sessions add Patrick's Point (Sue-meg State Park) or College Cove for a fuller coastal spread. Trinidad-local Trinidad School families and McKinleyville High Panthers also book here regularly.

Trinidad rewards photographers who know its weather. The marine layer rolls in around 11 AM most summer days and sometimes stays until 4 PM; some October days are crystalline blue from dawn to dusk. Pre-shoot we check the forecast and call audibles in the morning if needed, sometimes that means moving from open-bluff to redwood-canopy, sometimes it means waiting an hour and starting golden hour earlier. Local knowledge of how Trinidad's weather actually works keeps the shoot day stress-free.

The Editing Process

Months in the edit suite, curating the story.

A wedding film isn't shot in a day, it's made over months. Hours of raw cinema footage, multi-camera audio, drone aerial, and second-shooter coverage get assembled, color-graded, and scored frame by frame in the edit suite.

Every transition is intentional. Every cut earns its keep. The goal is a film couples actually want to re-watch, not a montage of clips. That kind of editorial discipline is the difference between a wedding film and a wedding highlight reel, and it's why these turnarounds run weeks instead of days.

    I arrive a few minutes early to scout and set lights/lenses. We move through 1–3 locations and 2–3 outfits over 60 minutes (or longer for half-day sessions).

    Editing

    Best 60–120 images selected and edited. Yearbook-ready high-resolution files prioritized if you have a deadline.

    Delivery

    Trinidad sessions include a small travel surcharge (Trinidad is 25 minutes north of the Eureka studio) but typically the same base session pricing. Half-day epic sessions covering Trinidad + Patrick's Point are popular and priced as an upgrade.
  • How long is a senior portrait session?
    Standard sessions run 60 minutes to 2 hours, including 1–3 location changes and 2–3 outfit changes. Longer 'epic' sessions (half-day) are available for seniors who want to capture multiple settings, a redwood look, a coastal look, and a hometown look, across one production day.
  • Where do you shoot senior portraits?
    Anywhere on the North Coast that means something to you. Common locations include Sequoia Park, Trinidad State Beach, Patrick's Point, Founders Grove, Halvorsen Park, downtown Eureka, the Avenue of the Giants, and the Lost Coast. Indoor sessions are available at our Eureka studio.
  • When should we schedule?
    Senior portrait season peaks late summer through early fall (golden hour + fall colors). For best variety, schedule 6–10 weeks before yearbook deadlines. Spring senior sessions for class-of-following-year are also a popular alternative for less crowded locations.
  • What should the senior bring?
    2–3 outfits (more for longer sessions), any meaningful props or items (instrument, jersey, pet, vehicle), and snacks/water. Tex sends a full prep guide once we book, including outfit suggestions, location-specific notes, and a timeline for the session day.
  • How long until we get the gallery?
    Edited galleries are delivered in 2–3 weeks for standard sessions. Print orders and yearbook-ready files can be expedited if there's a deadline, let Tex know up front.
