The Story
I picked up my first camera a little over two years ago.
I picked up my first camera a little over two years ago with no idea how to shoot or edit. Before that I spent years on the marketing side, and a stretch in 2021 making content every day. For six months that year I got to create alongside my dad. We made over 500 posts and reached millions of people a month. It felt like I had it figured out.
When my dad passed away, doing it without him didn't feel right. Part of what made those days special was getting to share him with the world. I kept going on a new account and reached a new audience, but it didn't fill the hole he left behind. So I slowed down. I wanted to actually learn this, the craft of telling a story, not just making content.
That's where the camera came in. I asked Molly to drive up to Oregon with me to go get it, and we've barely put it down since. Each day got a little better. I started shooting weddings, TV commercials, senior portraits, and brand work, and somewhere in there it clicked. Capturing moments for other people brought me right back to what made it all matter in the first place.
Now it's me and Molly running the studio out of Eureka. I get to help a couple remember the best day of their life, a business tell its story, or a kid relive the game they played their heart out in. That's the whole job, and I don't take a second of it for granted.
