Tex Kelly, senior portrait photographer

Hi. I'm Tex.

Welcome to senior season, wherever home is.

I'm Tex. I grew up in Prescott Valley, Molly and I run this studio together, and senior portraits are my favorite shoot of the year. You only get one senior year, and it deserves better than a stiff photo in front of a plain backdrop.

My job is to make you (or your senior) comfortable, find the right light, and keep the session loose. No stiff poses. No fake smiles. We build the shoot around the actual kid, the sport, the truck, the spot in town that means something, and you end up with portraits worth printing big and keeping.

Now booking the Class of 2027. Yearbook deadlines come first. We're booking seniors at Bradshaw Mountain, Prescott High, Chino Valley, Flagstaff, and schools across Yavapai and Coconino County, and we still take care of our California seniors from Eureka to Ferndale.

A note from the field

Cinematic senior portraits in Prescott Valley, Prescott, Flagstaff, and across Northern Arizona, with our California seniors still covered from Eureka to Ferndale. Now booking the Class of 2027. Northern Arizona is nothing short of special for a senior shoot, granite and water at Watson Lake, ranch country outside Chino Valley, pines and aspens up in Flagstaff. Senior year only happens once, and it deserves more than a generic photo in front of a plain backdrop.

The Approach

Senior year only happens once. Let's make something unforgettable.

01

The location

Coast, redwoods, hometown streets , pick your stage.

Northern Arizona is nothing short of special for a senior shoot. Granite and water at Watson Lake, ranch country outside Chino Valley, the pines up in Flagstaff, red rock an hour away in Sedona. I grew up in Prescott Valley, so when we pick a spot, it's somewhere that actually means something, not just a backdrop. And for our California seniors, the redwoods and the coast are still very much on the table.

02

The session

No stiff poses. No fake smiles.

Senior year deserves more than a generic photo in front of a plain backdrop. Every session is fun, relaxed, and built around you. No awkward posing. No stiff smiles. Just authentic, cinematic portraits that capture exactly who you are at this moment in your life. Whether you're the athlete, the artist, the adventurer, or the one who just wants to look incredible. I've got you.

03

The hometown advantage

Born here. Built for these locations.

I've shot seniors across both Northern Arizona and California's North Coast, and the location is half the shoot. The spot at Watson Lake where the granite catches the last light. A fence line outside Chino Valley at golden hour. The redwood grove on the coast most people drive right past. When you book a senior session, you're getting someone who knows where the light goes and how to make you look like a million dollars in it.

Selected Work

Senior Portraits. A look at the work.

What's Included

What you actually get with senior portraits.

  • A Filmmaker's Eye on Every Frame

Golden-hour light on the Granite Dells, ranch country at last light, redwood groves on the California side. Shot with the same eye that runs our wedding films. Cinematic, never cookie-cutter.

  • Authentic. No Stiff Smiles

No awkward posing, no forced expressions. Every session is fun, relaxed, and built around the senior. Authentic portraits that capture exactly who you are at this moment.

  • Hand-Picked Locations

The spot at Watson Lake where the granite catches the last light, the fence line outside Chino Valley, the redwood grove on the coast most people drive right past. Locations picked on purpose for the senior, not recycled.

  • Bring What Makes You You

Two to three outfit changes, casual, dressed up, and something that represents you. Letterman jacket, jersey, instrument, your truck. Earth tones and solids photograph beautifully out here, against granite, pines, and open country.

  • Senior Highlight Reels (optional)

Cinematic short-form video for seniors who want something extra to remember this chapter by, a 60-90 second piece that lives on Instagram and lasts forever.

  • Edited Online Gallery

Private password-protected gallery delivered in 2–3 weeks. Print-quality downloads + web-ready files. Yearbook deadlines prioritized when you have one.

By County

Senior Portraits across multiple counties.

Each county hub has dedicated senior portraits content for the entire region, venues, microclimate, and process specific to that county, across both the California and Northern Arizona service areas.

Senior Portraits FAQs

Common questions.

  • How long is a senior portrait session?
Standard sessions run 60 minutes to 2 hours, including 1–3 location changes and 2–3 outfit changes. Longer 'epic' sessions (half-day) are available for seniors who want to capture multiple settings, a redwood look, a coastal look, and a hometown look, across one production day.
  • Where do you shoot senior portraits?
Anywhere on the North Coast that means something to you. Common locations include Sequoia Park, Trinidad State Beach, Patrick's Point, Founders Grove, Halvorsen Park, downtown Eureka, the Avenue of the Giants, and the Lost Coast. Indoor sessions are available at our Eureka studio.
  • When should we schedule?
Senior portrait season peaks late summer through early fall (golden hour + fall colors). For best variety, schedule 6–10 weeks before yearbook deadlines. Spring senior sessions for class-of-following-year are also a popular alternative for less crowded locations.
  • What should the senior bring?
2–3 outfits (more for longer sessions), any meaningful props or items (instrument, jersey, pet, vehicle), and snacks/water. Tex sends a full prep guide once we book, including outfit suggestions, location-specific notes, and a timeline for the session day.
  • How long until we get the gallery?
Edited galleries are delivered in 2–3 weeks for standard sessions. Print orders and yearbook-ready files can be expedited if there's a deadline, let Tex know up front.
