Tex Kelly. North Coast senior portrait photographer

Hi. I'm Tex.

Welcome to senior season, North Coast edition.

I'm a North Coast filmmaker and photographer, voted Humboldt County's Best, and senior portraits are my favorite shoot of the year. There's something about the last year of high school, the way it feels like everything is about to change, that makes seniors fun to photograph and worth doing right.

My job is to make you (or your senior) feel completely comfortable, then put you in front of the most cinematic light this county has to offer. No stiff poses. No fake smiles. Just real, beautiful, intentional portraits you'll be proud to send out as graduation announcements and reprint as decades-from-now keepsakes.

Now booking the Class of 2027. Yearbook deadlines prioritized. Bookings open for seniors at Eureka, Arcata, Fortuna, McKinleyville, Ferndale, Trinidad, St. Bernard's, Academy of the Redwoods, and every other North Coast high school.

A note from the field

Cinematic senior portraits in Eureka, Arcata, Trinidad, and beyond. Now booking Class of 2027. Humboldt County is one of the best places on earth for a high school senior shoot, from the rugged coastal bluffs of Trinidad to the towering redwoods near Arcata and the charming streets of Old Town Eureka. Senior year only happens once, and it deserves more than a generic photo in front of a plain backdrop.

The Approach

Senior year only happens once. Let's make something unforgettable.

01

The location

Coast, redwoods, hometown streets , pick your stage.

Humboldt County is one of the best places on earth for a high school senior shoot. From the rugged coastal bluffs of Trinidad and Moonstone Beach to the towering redwoods near Arcata and the charming streets of Old Town Eureka, I've photographed seniors across every corner of this place I call home. Whether you're from McKinleyville, Fortuna, Ferndale, or anywhere in between, we'll find the spot that feels most like you, and we'll have a blast doing it.

02

The session

No stiff poses. No fake smiles.

Senior year deserves more than a generic photo in front of a plain backdrop. Every session is fun, relaxed, and built around you. No awkward posing. No stiff smiles. Just authentic, cinematic portraits that capture exactly who you are at this moment in your life. Whether you're the athlete, the artist, the adventurer, or the one who just wants to look incredible. I've got you.

03

The hometown advantage

Born here. Built for these locations.

Having grown up in Humboldt County, I've spent years scouting the most breathtaking locations this place has to offer. Hidden coves along the Trinidad coastline. The exact grove in the redwoods where the light hits just right at golden hour. Tucked-away spots in Ferndale most people drive right past. When you book a senior session here, you're getting someone who knows this land and knows exactly how to make you look like a million dollars in it.

Senior Portraits FAQs

Common questions.

  • How long is a senior portrait session?
Standard sessions run 60 minutes to 2 hours, including 1–3 location changes and 2–3 outfit changes. Longer 'epic' sessions (half-day) are available for seniors who want to capture multiple settings, a redwood look, a coastal look, and a hometown look, across one production day.
  • Where do you shoot senior portraits?
Anywhere on the North Coast that means something to you. Common locations include Sequoia Park, Trinidad State Beach, Patrick's Point, Founders Grove, Halvorsen Park, downtown Eureka, the Avenue of the Giants, and the Lost Coast. Indoor sessions are available at our Eureka studio.
  • When should we schedule?
Senior portrait season peaks late summer through early fall (golden hour + fall colors). For best variety, schedule 6–10 weeks before yearbook deadlines. Spring senior sessions for class-of-following-year are also a popular alternative for less crowded locations.
  • What should the senior bring?
2–3 outfits (more for longer sessions), any meaningful props or items (instrument, jersey, pet, vehicle), and snacks/water. Tex sends a full prep guide once we book, including outfit suggestions, location-specific notes, and a timeline for the session day.
  • How long until we get the gallery?
Edited galleries are delivered in 2–3 weeks for standard sessions. Print orders and yearbook-ready files can be expedited if there's a deadline, let Tex know up front.
