Tex Kelly, videography for Crescent City, California

Hi. I'm Tex.

Welcome to cinematic film, Crescent City edition.

I'm a North Coast filmmaker and photographer, voted Humboldt County's Best. Cinematic videography in Crescent City runs across brand films, commercial work, event coverage, real estate cinematic tours, and the kind of editorial documentary that lifts a business above generic iPhone-tier video.

My job is to put you, your business, or your story in front of the same broadcast-grade cinema and FAA Part 107 drone aerial that's built a personal channel to a billion-plus views, and to do it in Crescent City the way the city actually looks, not a generic stock-video version of it.

Now booking Crescent City commercial brand films and event coverage.

A note from Crescent City

Cinematic videography in Crescent City, California, broadcast-grade cinema and FAA Part 107 drone aerial for destination wedding films, tourism brand campaigns, and Smith River / Battery Point Lighthouse documentary cinematography.

The Approach

Cinema in Crescent City. Made for this place.

The Crescent City location

Crescent City on camera, shot with intent.

Crescent City videography is mostly destination work, visiting couples for wedding films, tourism-board commissioned brand cinematography, and the occasional Crescent Harbor commercial film for the working fishing port. Battery Point Lighthouse drone aerial is the signature opening shot of nearly every Crescent City cinematic, coordinate around tides and weather. Broadcast cinema + DJI Mavic 3 Pro for full coverage.

Broadcast cinema + drone aerial.

The Crescent City production

Broadcast cinema. Drone aerial integrated.

A Crescent City shoot day starts with the tide chart. Battery Point Lighthouse is only walkable at low water, so the drone window and the ground block both key off the same table. We run broadcast cinema cameras with lavs on the principals, so the vows stay clean even when the wind comes up off the harbor. The drone goes up under Part 107 the moment the airspace and the weather both allow. You get a color-graded film and the raw aerials.

The Del Norte County scouting advantage

Crescent City, Scouted for years.

Knowing this stretch of Del Norte coast is the whole job. The marine layer here can sit thick at the lighthouse and be gone two miles up the Smith River, where the water runs clear enough to shoot through in late summer. Crescent Harbor lights best on the falling light after the fishing boats are back in. We schedule around the tide and the fog instead of fighting them, so the signature aerial is in the can before the weather turns.

DaVinci Resolve wedding-film edit in progress. Tex Kelly Productions editing suite

The Editing Process

Months in the edit suite, curating the story.

A wedding film isn't shot in a day, it's made over months. Hours of raw cinema footage, multi-camera audio, drone aerial, and second-shooter coverage get assembled, color-graded, and scored frame by frame in the edit suite.

Every transition is intentional. Every cut earns its keep. The goal is a film couples actually want to re-watch, not a montage of clips. That kind of editorial discipline is the difference between a wedding film and a wedding highlight reel, and it's why these turnarounds run weeks instead of days.
