Proposal Photographer · Fort Bragg

Proposal Photographer in Fort Bragg. What it actually looks like.

Fort Bragg proposals play against a different Mendocino coast than the polished Mendocino village 10 miles south. Glass Beach's sea-glass shore, Noyo Harbor's working fishing fleet, Pomo Bluffs Park's dramatic sea cliffs, and MacKerricher State Park's dunes-meets-headlands geography. Working-coastal authenticity rather than Victorian-village polish, and Pacific drama at every turn.

The Process

What to expect from your engagement session.

Every session starts with a quick planning conversation where we'll talk about your vision, your ideal locations, and any special details you want captured. On the day of your shoot, I'll guide you through natural poses and candid moments so everything feels relaxed and authentic, no stiff, awkward setups.

Continuity

Beyond the engagement. Capturing your full love story.

Capturing your full love story is just the beginning, and I'd love to be part of the chapters that follow. Many of my couples book me for their engagement session and then continue working with me for their wedding day photography and videography. That continuity means I already know your style, your priorities, and how to tell your story at every step.

For Surprise Proposals

Why hire a professional for your proposal?

A surprise proposal only happens once, and you deserve more than a blurry phone photo to remember it by. As someone who has captured dozens of proposals across the North Coast and Northern Arizona, I know how to position myself to stay hidden while still getting every angle of the big moment, from the nervous anticipation to the "yes" to the celebration that follows. In Fort Bragg, I scout permitted spots and stay invisible until the moment is right.

Proposal Photographer in Fort Bragg. FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

  • Do we need a permit to propose at Glass Beach?
Glass Beach is a public beach inside MacKerricher State Park. Small surprise proposals with discreet long-lens coverage typically don't require a permit, but commercial photography setups (tripod, lighting equipment, multiple cameras) may. We handle the permit pull if the shoot needs one.
  • How do surprise proposal shoots work?
We coordinate the location, timing, and approach in advance over a phone call. Tex (and a drone operator if aerials are part of the plan) arrives early to scout and sets up a hidden lens position. You arrive at the scheduled time with your partner, propose, and Tex captures the moment from beginning to celebration. After the proposal, we transition into a full engagement session right there.
  • Where are the best proposal locations on the North Coast?
Trinidad Head and Trinidad Bay for coastal sunset proposals, Patrick's Point for dramatic cliffs and beaches, Moonstone Beach for low-key intimate moments, Founders Grove and the Avenue of the Giants for cathedral-like redwood backdrops, and Sequoia Park in Eureka for a classic North Coast feel close to town. Tex helps you choose based on weather, time of year, and the moment you're going for.
  • Do you coordinate with the venue or restaurant?
For outdoor proposals on public land, no permit is typically required for a single photographer. For private venues, wineries, restaurants, hotels. Tex helps coordinate with the venue manager so the moment isn't interrupted. For more elaborate setups (rented private estates, helicopter arrivals), we plan further in advance.
  • How early should I book?
2–6 weeks ahead is ideal. Same-week bookings are sometimes possible if the schedule allows, call directly at (707) 382-1108 if you're working on a tight timeline.
  • What happens after the proposal?
Once she says yes (or he says yes!), we transition smoothly into a 30–60 minute engagement session, same outfit, same location, capturing the post-proposal celebration and a few timeless engagement portraits. Many couples then upgrade to full wedding coverage with us when they set their date.
