Proposal Photographer in Prescott. What it actually looks like.

Prescott is one of the most photogenic proposal markets in the entire Southwest, the granite formations at Watson Lake have the visual drama of Sedona's red rocks without the destination crowd or permit complexity, the Courthouse Plaza's gas-lamp-lit Victorian core gives a storybook small-town moment, and Thumb Butte's sunset overlook delivers a 360-degree city-meets-mountain panorama. The mile-high climate keeps weather predictable through almost every season. We arrive 45 minutes early to scout a hidden long-lens position and capture the moment from a respectful distance.

Granite Dells is the signature Prescott proposal venue and the one we recommend first for couples wanting cinematic scale. The reflective lake doubles every silhouette, the otherworldly granite formations frame the moment with weight that photographs can't fake, and drone aerial sweeps captured from the south side at golden hour are stunning. Whiskey Row's Hassayampa Inn lobby is the indoor backup for weather and the historic-romance alternative for couples who prefer interior moments.

The Approach

Cinematic Yavapai County engagement sessions.

I want you to get the most out of your engagement session, whether it's a surprise proposal or a planned shoot. I'm committed to giving you an experience that feels thoughtful, fun, and unforgettable. Your engagement marks the beginning of a beautiful journey, and capturing it in a way that feels uniquely yours matters.

Born and raised in Prescott Valley, I'm a Humboldt County–based photographer and videographer with deep Northern Arizona roots. I specialize in adventure-driven, emotion-filled engagement photography that reflects your unique connection, from red rock golden-hour sessions in Sedona to pine-forest moments near Flagstaff and historic downtown vibes in Prescott. The same award-winning eye that earned Humboldt County's Best Filmmaker now serves Northern Arizona's destination engagement market.

The Process

What to expect from your engagement session.

Continuity

Beyond the engagement. Capturing your full love story.

Capturing your full love story is just the beginning, and I'd love to be part of the chapters that follow. Many of my couples book me for their engagement session and then continue working with me for their wedding day photography and videography. That continuity means I already know your style, your priorities, and how to tell your story at every step.

For Surprise Proposals

Why hire a professional for your proposal?

A surprise proposal only happens once, and you deserve more than a blurry phone photo to remember it by. As someone who has captured dozens of proposals across the North Coast and Northern Arizona, I know how to position myself to stay hidden while still getting every angle of the big moment, from the nervous anticipation to the "yes" to the celebration that follows. In Prescott, I scout permitted spots and stay invisible until the moment is right.

Proposal Photographer in Prescott. FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

  • Why is Granite Dells the signature Prescott proposal venue?
Three reasons: the granite formations have the visual scale of Sedona's red rocks at a fraction of the cost and crowd, Watson Lake's reflective water doubles every silhouette into a cinematic frame, and the location is 10 minutes from downtown Prescott, easy logistics for the rehearsal-dinner-to-proposal-to-celebration weekend flow. Drone aerial coverage is included on most Granite Dells proposal packages.
  • How does Prescott compare to Sedona for proposing?
Sedona is the destination market, fly-in couples wanting the world's most-photographed red rock backdrop, with permit complexity and crowd levels to match. Prescott is the regional market. Granite Dells delivers similar landscape drama at lower permit complexity, lower crowds, and lower destination pricing. Many couples actually combine: propose in the Dells, celebrate in Sedona. Both are 90 minutes apart.
  • How do surprise proposal shoots work?
We coordinate the location, timing, and approach in advance over a phone call. Tex (and a drone operator if aerials are part of the plan) arrives early to scout and sets up a hidden lens position. You arrive at the scheduled time with your partner, propose, and Tex captures the moment from beginning to celebration. After the proposal, we transition into a full engagement session right there.
  • Where are the best proposal locations on the North Coast?
Trinidad Head and Trinidad Bay for coastal sunset proposals, Patrick's Point for dramatic cliffs and beaches, Moonstone Beach for low-key intimate moments, Founders Grove and the Avenue of the Giants for cathedral-like redwood backdrops, and Sequoia Park in Eureka for a classic North Coast feel close to town. Tex helps you choose based on weather, time of year, and the moment you're going for.
  • Do you coordinate with the venue or restaurant?
For outdoor proposals on public land, no permit is typically required for a single photographer. For private venues, wineries, restaurants, hotels. Tex helps coordinate with the venue manager so the moment isn't interrupted. For more elaborate setups (rented private estates, helicopter arrivals), we plan further in advance.
  • How early should I book?
2–6 weeks ahead is ideal. Same-week bookings are sometimes possible if the schedule allows, call directly at (707) 382-1108 if you're working on a tight timeline.
  • What happens after the proposal?
Once she says yes (or he says yes!), we transition smoothly into a 30–60 minute engagement session, same outfit, same location, capturing the post-proposal celebration and a few timeless engagement portraits. Many couples then upgrade to full wedding coverage with us when they set their date.
