Tex Kelly, weddings for Prescott, Arizona

Hi. I'm Tex.

Welcome to wedding season, Prescott edition.

I'm a Prescott Valley-raised filmmaker and photographer, voted Humboldt County's Best. Wedding photography and film in Prescott is one of the things this studio does most, full-day photo and film coverage with FAA Part 107 drone aerial, delivered together so couples have one storyteller across every frame of the day.

My job is to make you, your families, and your guests feel completely comfortable so the day stays the day, not a photo shoot. No stiff poses. No staged-looking smiles. Just real, intentional, cinematic coverage of how the day actually unfolds in Prescott and across Yavapai County.

A note from Prescott

Cinematic wedding films and editorial wedding photography in Prescott, Arizona. Courthouse Plaza ceremonies, Watson Lake elopements, Hassayampa Inn historic receptions, and Granite Dells sunset portraits. FAA Part 107 drone aerial integrated.

The Approach

Weddings in Prescott. Made for this place.

The Prescott venue

Prescott venues, lit and scouted.

Prescott is one of Arizona's most photogenic wedding destinations. Courthouse Plaza ceremonies in the heart of downtown, Hassayampa Inn historic receptions, custom-estate ceremonies around Watson Lake, and Granite Dells portrait sessions. The mile-high climate and historic 1800s architecture deliver a look that competes with East Coast historic-town weddings but with Arizona's clear-sky reliability.

The Prescott day

Real moments, captured intentionally.

Prescott also serves as the more affordable alternative to a full Sedona destination wedding, many couples do their ceremony in Sedona's red rocks and their reception at Hassayampa Inn or another Prescott venue. We coordinate across both cities when couples plan that way.

The Yavapai County scouting advantage

Prescott, Scouted for years.

Prescott's light is a mountain-town light. At a mile high the afternoons stay crisp even in June, the Dells go copper in the last hour before sunset, and the monsoon builds theater clouds over the Bradshaws on August afternoons. Watson Lake photographs best once the wind lays down and the granite doubles itself in the water. Growing up twenty minutes away in Prescott Valley means none of this is guesswork; the scouting was done years before the business ever crossed the state line.

The Editing Process

Months in the edit suite, curating the story.

A wedding film isn't shot in a day, it's made over months. Hours of raw cinema footage, multi-camera audio, drone aerial, and second-shooter coverage get assembled, color-graded, and scored frame by frame in the edit suite.

Every transition is intentional. Every cut earns its keep. The goal is a film couples actually want to re-watch, not a montage of clips. That kind of editorial discipline is the difference between a wedding film and a wedding highlight reel, and it's why these turnarounds run weeks instead of days.

Wedding Photographer & Filmmaker in Prescott. FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

  • Can you film a wedding at Hassayampa Inn?
Yes. Hassayampa Inn is a signature Prescott wedding venue and we have full familiarity with the building. Ballroom reception cinematography, courtyard ceremony coverage, and lobby/grand-staircase editorial portraits are all standard. Drone aerial for exterior establishing shots.
  • Can we split our wedding between Prescott and Sedona?
Yes, and many destination couples do exactly this. Sedona ceremony in the red rocks, then reception at a Prescott venue (Hassayampa Inn or a downtown space). We coordinate the multi-city timeline and handle both locations with full coverage. Travel between cities is 90 minutes.
  • Do we need a permit for a Watson Lake or Courthouse Plaza ceremony?
Plan on it for both. Courthouse Plaza ceremonies go through the county's event-permit process, and popular dates are worth starting early. Watson Lake sits in a City of Prescott park, so organized ceremonies there run through the city's park-reservation process. Neither is complicated, but both have lead times, and we walk couples through exactly what their date needs during planning so the paperwork never becomes a day-of problem.
  • What does a wedding package include?
Wedding coverage starts with photography or videography and scales up to full-day cinematic films. Most couples book the full photo and film package, cinematic motion plus editorial stills delivered together. Aerial drone coverage is available as an add-on for outdoor venues. Every package includes a planning consultation, day-of coverage, and a fully edited gallery delivered within 6–8 weeks.
  • Do you travel for destination weddings?
Yes. Tex Kelly Productions covers weddings across Yavapai and Coconino Counties. Prescott, Prescott Valley, Sedona, the Verde Valley, Jerome, Flagstaff, and beyond. Sedona red-rock ceremonies and destination elopements are a regular booking, and the studio handles the City of Sedona and Coconino National Forest permits. Travel further across Arizona is routine; international destination weddings are considered case-by-case.
  • How far in advance should we book?
Most Northern Arizona wedding dates book 6–12 months out, and Sedona's peak red-rock seasons (spring and fall) fill earliest. Reach out as soon as you have a date, even if the venue isn't locked in yet. Tex can often hold a tentative date for two weeks while you finalize.
  • What venues have you worked at?
Weddings across Northern Arizona: red-rock ceremonies in Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon, historic vows on Whiskey Row and the Courthouse Plaza in Prescott, granite-and-water portraits at Watson Lake and the Granite Dells, ranch weddings out in Chino Valley, and pine-country ceremonies up around Flagstaff. Send your venue when you reach out and Tex will share work from there if available.
  • Do you do engagement sessions?
Yes, engagement and proposal sessions are a separate service. Most couples who book the wedding film also do a pre-wedding engagement session at a meaningful spot: the red rocks where they got engaged, the Granite Dells at golden hour, or somewhere new together across Yavapai or Coconino County.
  • How do we book?
Send an inquiry through the contact form or call (707) 382-1108. Tex replies within 24 hours with availability and a tailored quote. Once we lock details, a signed agreement and 25% deposit reserves your date. The remainder is due before the wedding day.
